PD Planning: What do you want teachers to be able to do?

      Epistemic change in their approach to leading whole group discussion: moving away from teacher talk and IRE towards open-ended questions, modeling talk moves, and developing strategies for teaching students to talk to in order to scaffold their responses to texts.

      Targeted high leverage teaching practices: Leading a whole group discussion, using open-ended questions and press/talk moves.

      This project aims to move teachers towards a more student-centered approach to talk and response that is research-based, job-embedded, and classroom tested.

      Teachers were working towards creating a workshop for the ELA teaching community thus empowering teachers to open up their teaching practice and learn from each other.
